Ready-to-work business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s ships new with Windows 7 Professional and an Intel Core i5-8250U processor that reaches 3.40 GHz. It carries 24 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD. A 14.0" IPS matte panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics drive the display.

Mobile professionals needing legacy OS

This unit suits buyers who must run Windows 7 Pro on current-era hardware and value the fingerprint reader, ThinkShutter webcam cover and Thunderbolt 3 port for docks or external GPUs. It is not for teams that require a supported operating system, a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a newer Bluetooth revision than 4.1.

512 GB NVMe and 24 GB RAM headroom

The PCIe NVMe drive and 24 GB of memory give ample room for large datasets, multiple virtual machines and heavy multitasking. Storage runs out when project libraries exceed the half-terabyte mark, and memory pressure appears only with very large concurrent workloads.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop need anything extra to run Windows 7 Pro out of the box?

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit is pre-installed, so the system boots to a working desktop without additional media.

Will my older USB-A peripherals work with the four USB ports on this T480s?

The four USB ports are standard Type-A connectors, so existing mice, keyboards and drives plug in directly.

How can I confirm the Thunderbolt link is active after I connect a dock?

A Thunderbolt icon appears in the Windows notification area and the connected device shows up in Device Manager under Thunderbolt controllers.
