Business laptop with i7-8550U and WWAN

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor running at 1.80 GHz with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.00 GHz. It includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 180 GB SSD for the operating system and applications. The matte IPS display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics handle visual output. A 4G LTE WWAN module provides cellular connectivity.

Suited for mobile professionals needing cellular

This configuration serves users who require reliable 4G LTE connectivity while travelling or working away from Wi-Fi networks. The fingerprint reader and Windows 7 Professional support managed IT environments. Buyers who need a touchscreen interface should look elsewhere, as the display is non-touch. The 180 GB capacity may limit users with large local media libraries or extensive offline project files.

180 GB SSD capacity determines storage fit

The single 180 GB solid-state drive defines how much software and data can reside on the device without external storage. Only 16 GB of DDR4 memory is installed, with no additional slots mentioned for expansion. Thunderbolt support enables high-speed peripheral connections up to 40 Gbps. Bluetooth 4.1 handles short-range wireless accessories. Weighing between 2 and 2.9 lbs, the chassis meets 21 MIL-SPEC durability tests.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 180GB SSD and what step is often missed?

The 180GB SSD fits in the internal M.2 slot; the step often missed is enabling the drive in UEFI BIOS before cloning or installing Windows 7 Pro.

What maintenance will the 16GB DDR4 memory and 180GB SSD need later?

The 16GB DDR4 is soldered and not upgradeable; the 180GB SSD can be replaced with a larger M.2 drive when capacity runs low.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the i7-8550U?

The Intel Core i7-8550U hits its thermal ceiling first, lowering clocks from 4.0 GHz toward 1.80 GHz under prolonged heavy work.
