14-inch business laptop

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490 is a 14-inch notebook built for professionals who need a compact Windows 10 Pro machine. It pairs an Intel Core i5-8265U quad-core processor with 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The IPS FHD display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution with wide viewing angles. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks.

Suited for mobile office work.

This configuration serves users who prioritise portability, a fingerprint reader, and Thunderbolt connectivity for docks or external storage. The non-touch 14.0-inch screen keeps weight down for travel. Buyers who need discrete graphics for rendering, gaming or colour-critical workflows should look at a different class of machine. The integrated GPU and U-series CPU limit sustained heavy compute.

Steady output within thermal limits

Under continuous load the quad-core chip runs at its 1.6GHz base and can reach 3.9GHz via Turbo Boost 2.0 until the cooling system balances heat. The 16GB memory pool keeps multiple business applications responsive without swapping to the NVMe drive. Surface temperatures and fan noise rise gradually during long sessions, reflecting the thin chassis design. Performance settles at a level consistent with ultraportable thermal envelopes.
