Business-ready ultraportable

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490 is a 14.0" notebook built for professionals who need reliable performance in a compact form. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-8265U quad-core processor with a base frequency of 1.6 GHz and a turbo boost up to 3.9 GHz. The system includes 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD for fast storage access. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the FHD IPS display.

Upgrade from slower storage and less memory

Replacing a mechanical hard drive with the 512GB NVMe SSD cuts boot and application load times dramatically. Moving from 8GB to 16GB DDR4 removes the bottleneck that forces constant swapping during multitasking. The jump is worth it when daily workflows involve large spreadsheets, multiple browser tabs or local virtual machines that exceed modest memory limits.

Sustained workloads stay responsive

The quad-core processor maintains 1.6 GHz under continuous load without thermal throttling in typical office environments. Turbo boost to 3.9 GHz activates for short bursts during compilation or data analysis before returning to base clocks. The IPS panel sustains 250 cd/m2 brightness and 700:1 contrast across 170° viewing angles for extended reading sessions. Fan noise remains low during typical productivity tasks.
