Portable performance for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490 combines a 14.0" FHD IPS display with an Intel Core i7-8565U processor reaching 4.6GHz. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD support multitasking and fast boot times. Windows 10 Pro provides a familiar business environment. A 720p webcam and fingerprint reader add convenient security for daily workflows.

Efficient thermals for sustained workloads

The U-series quad-core processor operates at a 1.80GHz base frequency with turbo headroom for burst performance. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handles display output without a discrete GPU, helping keep power draw modest. Fan activity remains subdued during typical office tasks and video playback. The compact chassis manages heat effectively for a thin-and-light design.

Durable build with versatile connectivity

A spill-resistant keyboard and robust hinge design reflect ThinkPad durability standards. Thunderbolt and HDMI ports enable dual-monitor setups and high-speed peripherals. A card reader simplifies media transfer from cameras or phones. The non-touch FHD panel keeps weight down while the 14-inch form factor fits easily into standard laptop bags.

Questions about this item

How is the 512GB NVMe drive installed and which step do people miss?

The drive slots into the internal M.2 connector; the step often missed is removing the bottom cover screws and disconnecting the battery before insertion.

What maintenance will the 8GB DDR4 memory need later?

The memory is soldered to the board so it cannot be upgraded; the only later action is a full board replacement if capacity becomes insufficient.

What limit appears first on the Core i7-8565U during sustained loads?

The processor hits its thermal ceiling and throttles from 4.6GHz down toward the 1.80GHz base frequency under prolonged heavy work.
