ThinkPad T490s with Core i7-8665U

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490s is a 14-inch business notebook powered by an Intel Core i7-8665U processor. It ships with 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB solid-state drive running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. The matte black chassis includes a French-layout keyboard and Bluetooth connectivity for wireless peripherals. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 IPS display.

8 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD capacity

Eight gigabytes of RAM handles typical office suites, web browsing and video conferencing without slowdown. The 256 GB SSD holds the operating system, core applications and a moderate document library with room to spare. Users who run large virtual machines, edit video or keep extensive local media libraries will find both memory and storage limiting. Heavy multitaskers should expect to add external storage or upgrade the drive.

Questions about this item

Will the 14 inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display work with my older docking station that only has VGA output?

The notebook includes HDMI and USB-C video outputs; a VGA connection would require an active HDMI-to-VGA or USB-C-to-VGA adapter.

How can I verify the Core i7-8665U and 8 GB RAM are recognised correctly after first boot?

Open Settings > System > About in Windows 10 Pro to confirm the processor model and installed memory match the specifications.
