Purpose-built business ultraportable

The Lenovo ThinkPad T490S is a 14.0-inch Windows 10 Pro laptop powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8265U quad-core processor. It ships with 8GB of system memory and a 256GB solid-state drive. The non-touch FHD IPS panel runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution and is driven by integrated Intel UHD Graphics using shared memory.

Connectivity and upgrade checklist

Verify that your peripherals match the port selection: two USB-A 3.1, two USB-C 3.1 supporting Power Delivery and DisplayPort, one HDMI 1.4, a headphone/microphone combo jack and a microSD card reader. Wireless connectivity uses Wifi5 (802.11ac 2x2) and Bluetooth 5.1. The factory box seal may have been opened for RAM or SSD upgrades, so confirm the installed configuration before ordering.

Sustained-load behaviour

The processor maintains a 1.6 GHz base clock and can reach a 3.9 GHz max boost clock across its four cores and eight threads with 6 MB Smart Cache. Integrated graphics share system memory, so extended 3D or compute workloads will be limited by the 8 GB capacity and thermal envelope. Rapid Charge can deliver an 80 percent charge in 60 minutes, supporting up to 20 hours of battery life on the low-power FHD display.
