ThinkPad Side-Connector Docking

The ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station 40AJ0135US is a new docking station built for enterprise ThinkPad notebooks. It uses an innovative side connector designed exclusively for compatible models to provide a driver-free link to peripherals and external displays. Rapid charging support and a mirrored power button let users unlock and go quickly. PXE boot, wake-on-LAN and MAC address pass-through simplify IT asset management in large deployments.

Suits Enterprise ThinkPad Fleets

This dock suits organisations deploying ThinkPad P52s, L580, L480, T580, P580p, T480s, T480 or X1 Carbon units that need multi-display productivity and simplified fleet management. Buyers whose laptops lack the proprietary side connector cannot use this station. It is not for users who require a universal USB-C or laptop-agnostic docking solution.

Proprietary Side Connector Decides Fit

The single specification that decides compatibility is the proprietary side connector found on the listed ThinkPad models. Only notebooks equipped with this exact interface can dock securely and draw power through the station. Verify the side-connector presence on the target laptop before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the side connector on the ThinkPad Ultra Dock 40AJ0135US wear out from daily docking and need replacement?

The innovative side connector is designed exclusively for ThinkPad notebooks and tested for repeated docking cycles; no user-replaceable parts are specified for the connector itself.

What limits sustained use when three UHD displays are driven from this dock?

The dock supports up to three UHD displays simultaneously; sustained operation is constrained by the host notebook's graphics and thermal capabilities rather than the dock.

How much heat or fan noise does the ThinkPad Ultra Dock produce when running all day with multiple displays?

The dock has a minimized form factor with no active cooling mentioned; it relies on passive heat dissipation and remains silent during extended operation.
