14" WQHD laptop with 4G LTE

This Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5 is a new ultraportable running Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-7600U processor up to 3.9 GHz with 8 GB memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD. The 14.0" IPS display shows 2560 x 1440 resolution without touch input. Integrated 4G LTE WWAN and Bluetooth 4.1 provide mobile connectivity. Weight is 2.49 lbs.

Buyers needing more memory

The 8 GB RAM is soldered and cannot be increased, and the panel is a non-touch QHD IPS. Users who require a larger screen, higher refresh rate, or expandable memory will not be served by this configuration. The carbon-fiber chassis passes 12 military-grade tests and 200 durability checks for mobile professionals.

2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 2 TB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. It determines how much operating system, applications, and data can be stored locally before external drives or cloud sync become necessary. Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C adds 40 Gbps data and video bandwidth for docks or external GPUs.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0" chassis accept a 2.5" drive or only the existing NVMe PCIe SSD?

Only the existing NVMe PCIe SSD is fitted; there is no 2.5" bay in the 14.0" carbon-fibre chassis.

How is the 4G LTE WWAN card installed and which step is often missed?

The WWAN card is factory-installed in the M.2 slot; the step often missed is inserting an active nano-SIM into the external tray before first boot.

Which user-replaceable parts will need attention after several years of use?

The 8GB memory is soldered and not replaceable; the 2TB NVMe SSD can be swapped, and the internal battery is serviceable by a technician.
