Ready-to-deploy business ultrabook

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 arrives with Windows 10 Pro installed and a 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 IPS panel. An Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.7 GHz with 8 MB L3 cache drives the system. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR3 memory and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD provide responsive multitasking and fast storage. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks.

Mobile professionals who value light weight

Buyers who need a dedicated GPU for 3D rendering or video editing should look elsewhere. Users requiring more than 16 GB of RAM cannot upgrade this unit. The two USB ports and single HDMI output limit peripheral expansion for desk-heavy workflows. Anyone wanting a touchscreen or higher-resolution display will not find it here.

Soldered 16 GB DDR3 memory ceiling

The maximum supported memory is fixed at 16 GB, so future upgrades are impossible. This constraint defines the usable lifespan for memory-intensive workloads. Verify that your applications run comfortably within this limit before purchase. The 512 GB NVMe SSD remains the only user-replaceable storage component.

Questions about this item

Can the 512 GB NVMe SSD be swapped for a larger one later?

Yes, the 512 GB NVMe drive is replaceable with a standard M.2 2280 NVMe SSD if more storage is needed.

Will the 16 GB DDR3 limit multitasking on heavy workloads?

The 16 GB DDR3 is soldered and cannot be expanded, so memory-heavy tasks will hit that ceiling first.

How loud does the fan get when the i7-8650U runs at 1.7 GHz all day?

Under sustained load the fan spins up to an audible but not distracting level; surface temperatures stay comfortable for lap use.
