Purpose-built ultraportable

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a 14.0 inch mainstream laptop designed for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. Its Intel Core i7-6500U processor reaches 3.10 GHz and the anti-glare IPS display shows 1920 by 1080 resolution. A 720p HD camera supports video calls.

Memory and storage limits

The system ships with 8GB of 1866MHz LPDDR3 soldered to the board, so capacity cannot be increased later. The 256 GB M.2 solid-state drive holds the operating system and core applications, but heavy media libraries or large project archives will require external storage.

Upgrade perspective

Buyers moving from an older unit with a mechanical drive and less RAM will notice faster boot times and smoother multitasking. The jump is less compelling for users who already have a soldered-memory ultrabook with similar solid-state storage and a modern processor.

Questions about this item

Will the 256 GB M.2 drive work as a secondary boot drive alongside my older 256 GB SSD?

The laptop has one M.2 slot occupied by the 256 GB Solid State Drive; adding another drive requires a second M.2 slot which is not confirmed.

How do I confirm the 14.0" FHD 1920x1080 anti-glare IPS panel is performing correctly after setup?

Check that the 1920x1080 native resolution is selected, verify wide viewing angles, and test the 720p HD camera in the Camera app.

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately for this 8 GB LPDDR3 1866 MHz soldered-memory laptop?

The unit includes the laptop and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit; the 8 GB LPDDR3 memory is soldered so no RAM upgrade is possible, and any dock or adapter is extra.
