Business ultrabook for mobile professionals

The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 is a 12.5-inch business ultrabook built for professionals who need a durable, portable machine. It runs Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core i7-4600U processor with 8GB of DDR3 RAM. The carbon fibre roll cage and MIL-SPEC testing ensure it withstands travel and daily use.

12.5-inch FHD IPS touch display

The deciding specification is the 12.5-inch FHD IPS touch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. This panel provides wide viewing angles and touch input for direct interaction. Buyers who need a larger screen or a non-touch matte panel for bright outdoor work should consider other form factors.

Straightforward setup with legacy OS considerations

Initial setup is standard: power on, accept the Windows 7 Professional licence, and connect to a network via Bluetooth 4.0 or the two USB ports. The main friction point is that Windows 7 no longer receives security updates, so connecting the device to the internet without an OS upgrade exposes it to vulnerabilities.

Questions about this item

What does the i7-4600U's 3.3 GHz boost mean for everyday workloads?

The dual-core processor reaches 3.3 GHz on short bursts, so office apps and web browsing feel snappy, while sustained loads settle at the lower base clock to manage heat in the slim chassis.

What does Bluetooth 4.0 actually support on this ultrabook?

Bluetooth 4.0 provides low-energy pairing for mice, keyboards and headsets, plus classic audio streaming; it does not offer the higher throughput or longer range of later versions.

How do I access the 500 GB drive and 8 GB DDR3 memory for upgrades?

Remove the bottom cover after unscrewing the retaining screws to reach the drive bay and the single memory slot; both components are user-replaceable.
