Business ultrabook with Core i7-4600U

The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 is a 12.5-inch business ultrabook built around an Intel Core i7-4600U processor with 8GB of DDR3 memory. It runs Windows 10 Pro from a 500GB hard drive and shows content on a non-touch HD IPS panel at 1366 x 768 resolution. A fingerprint reader, backlit spill-resistant keyboard and Bluetooth 4.0 complete the core feature set for mobile professionals.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultraportables

Moving to this model makes sense when a previous device struggles with multitasking across office applications and video calls. The dual-core i7-4600U reaches 3.3 GHz and the 8GB memory ceiling handles typical workloads without constant swapping. The jump is worth it if the current machine lacks a backlit keyboard, fingerprint login or the rugged MIL-SPEC chassis that survives pressure, vibration and temperature extremes.

Suits mobile workers needing durability

This ultrabook fits consultants, field technicians and frequent flyers who value a carbon-fibre roll cage, spill-resistant keyboard and a combo audio jack over raw speed. Buyers who want more storage capacity, a solid-state drive, a touchscreen or a higher-resolution display should look at something else. The two USB ports and lack of an optical drive also limit peripheral-heavy desk setups.
