Lenovo QL45262 50Gb Ethernet Adapter

The Lenovo ThinkSystem QLogic QL45262 is a 50GBase-X network adapter with two ports. It installs in a PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot and is sold in new condition. This card adds 50 gigabit wired connectivity to compatible servers.

Suits servers needing dual-port 50Gb throughput

The adapter targets deployments that require two 50GBase-X links, such as high-density rack environments. It is not intended for systems limited to PCIe 2.0 or x8 electrical lanes. Buyers who need single-port or lower-speed cards should consider other models.

PCI Express 3.0 x16 interface determines fit

The card requires a physical x16 slot wired for PCIe 3.0 signalling. Verify the server riser and BIOS support before purchase. No other specification overrides this mechanical and electrical requirement.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the QL45262 add when running at 50GBase-X all day?

The adapter uses a PCI Express 3.0 x16 interface; typical power draw for this class of dual-port 50 GbE card stays within the slot's thermal envelope, so standard server airflow is sufficient.

What slot and firmware does my server need for the QL45262?

It requires an available PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot and a system BIOS or UEFI that supports Option ROM execution for the adapter's iSCSI and FCoE functions.

Will the QL45262 work in a PCIe 2.0 x16 slot alongside my older NICs?

The card is designed for PCI Express 3.0 x16; it will physically fit a 2.0 x16 slot but will negotiate down to 2.0 speeds, limiting the 50GBase-X ports to 16 GT/s aggregate bandwidth.
