Countdown Timer Switch for Lights and Fans

The Leviton DT112-1LW replaces a standard wall switch with a countdown timer that automates lights, heaters and exhaust fans. Four preset buttons provide 2, 4, 8 and 12 hour run times; press once to turn the load on and the switch turns it off automatically when the interval expires. It is rated for 15A at 120V and handles 1/2 HP or 9.8A motor loads.

Shallow Wall-Mount Design with Flexible Wiring

The unit measures 4.13 in x 1.73 in x 1.34 in and fits a standard wallbox without a neutral wire thanks to the green flex sleeve that connects to ground. If a neutral is present, the sleeve can be removed for a direct neutral connection. Two interchangeable black leads simplify line and load wiring to reduce miswires. The IP00 enclosure is intended for indoor wall mounting only.

CSA, FCC and IC Certified with Interchangeable

The switch carries CSA, FCC and IC certifications for safety and compliance. Load ratings include 600W LED or CFL, 1800W incandescent or halogen, 1200VA MLV, ELV or fluorescent, and 15A resistive. White Decora-style faceplate is included; DTKIT faceplates in ivory, light almond, gray, black and brown are available separately to match room decor.

Questions about this item

What voltage and amperage does the DT112-1LW timer switch support?

The DT112-1LW operates at 120 volts AC and is rated for 15 amps resistive, 1/2 HP or 9.8 amps for fan and motor loads, 1800 watts incandescent, 600 watts LED or CFL, and 1200 VA for MLV, ELV or fluorescent ballasts.

What are the wall-box dimensions and mounting style for this switch?

The switch measures 4.13 inches by 1.73 inches by 1.34 inches, mounts in a standard wall box with screw terminals, and its shallow profile is designed to fit easily in typical residential wall boxes.

How do the interchangeable line and load wires work, and what is the common wiring mistake?

The two black wires can be connected to either line or load, reducing miswiring risk; the step often missed is connecting the green-sleeved wire to ground when no neutral is present, or removing the sleeve to connect to neutral if available — a ground wire is always required.
