256GB USB 3.1 dual-connector flash drive

The Lexar JumpDrive D400 combines a USB Type-C plug and a USB Type-A plug in a single metal-bodied unit. A swivel cover protects both connectors and a key-ring loop keeps the drive on a lanyard or key chain. Lexar DataShield software creates a password-protected, encrypted vault on the drive. Read speeds reach 130 MB/s over USB 3.1 Gen 1.

Suits users moving files between phones.

The dual-interface design works with USB-C smartphones, tablets and laptops as well as traditional USB-A desktops and notebooks. Buyers who need only a single connector type or who require hardware encryption rather than software-based protection should consider other options.

256 GB capacity for documents, photos and video

The 256 GB volume holds large photo libraries, project files and offline media for travel. Sequential reads of 130 MB/s transfer multi-gigabyte folders in seconds. The drive is not designed for running operating systems or sustained write workloads such as video capture.

Questions about this item

Which ports must my devices have to use both connectors on this JumpDrive D400?

One device needs a USB Type-C port and the other a USB Type-A port; the drive has both connectors built in.

Will the 130MB/s transfer speed still be reached when I plug the Type-A end into an older USB 2.0 port?

No, the drive will fall back to USB 2.0 speeds on that port; the 130MB/s rate requires a USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection.

How can I verify the drive is delivering its rated performance after I set it up?

Copy a large file and check that the sustained read or write speed approaches 130MB/s in your OS transfer dialog or a benchmark tool.
