  • Optional communication card enables remote monitoring of up to 50 UPS units
  • Two programmable outlets let you prioritise critical loads during outages

Purpose & Fit

The Liebert PSI5 is a 1000VA 900W line-interactive UPS in a 1U rack-mount chassis that delivers pure sine-wave output with .9 power factor. It suits network closets, small data centres and edge sites that need battery backup and automatic voltage regulation in minimal rack space.

Setup Checklist

Verify that your rack provides a 1U slot and 120V single-phase supply. Confirm the connected load stays within 900W so the .9 power factor is fully usable. Ensure you have a free slot for an optional communication card if remote monitoring of up to 50 units via Vertiv Trellis Power Insight is required. Check that the five rear outlets — two of them programmable — match your equipment plugs.

Upgrade Path

Replaces older 2U battery-backup units where rack density is at a premium and a wider input window of 83 to 159 VAC without battery use is valuable. The jump is worth it when you need programmable outlets to shed non-critical loads during extended outages, sub-6 ms transfer time for sensitive servers, or the ability to add network management without increasing rack height.

Questions about this item

What comes with the Liebert PSI5 1000VA UPS and what must I purchase separately?

The UPS includes five total outlets, two of which are programmable for load prioritisation. A Vertiv Liebert Unity communication card is required for remote monitoring of up to 50 systems via the Trellis Power Insight application.

Which capacity and form factor suit a 1U rack with 0.9 power factor?

The PSI5-1000RM1201U delivers 1000VA and 900W in a 1U rack-mount chassis, providing a 0.9 output power factor for more usable power in dense installations.

What does the 83 to 159 VAC regulation range mean for my 120V equipment?

Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects sags and swells between 83 and 159 VAC without draining the battery, keeping connected 120V loads on clean sine-wave power and extending battery runtime.
