20 ft Smart LED Lightstrip Kit

The LIFX LFXE/TAPE20 is a 20 ft Wi-Fi light strip that delivers RGB colour and tunable white light for indoor ambient or task lighting. It connects directly to a home network without a separate hub and works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Matter platforms. Cuttable and extendable sections let the strip fit cabinets, shelves, desks or accent walls. The kit suits renters and owners who want customisable smart lighting without rewiring.

Thermals Noise and Power

The strip draws 17 watts at 100 volts and uses LED emitters that run cool during extended operation. Silent solid-state lighting adds no fan or coil noise to a room. Low heat output means the strip can be mounted on wood, tile or painted surfaces without risk of discoloration. Energy-efficient output reaches 1000 lumens while keeping electricity use modest.

Cuttable Extendable Design and App Control

The flexible strip can be trimmed at marked points and extended with compatible accessories to match exact lengths. The LIFX app provides colour wheels, schedules, circadian tuning and grouping with other LIFX devices over Wi-Fi. Matter support enables native control in Apple Home, Samsung SmartThings and other certified ecosystems without additional bridges. Firmware updates arrive automatically through the app to maintain compatibility.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 20ft lightstrip and what is the common mistake when cutting it?

Plug the corded controller into a 100‑volt outlet, connect to Wi‑Fi via the LIFX app, then adhere the strip. Only cut at the marked copper points; cutting elsewhere breaks the circuit and the cut section will not light.

What maintenance or replacement will the 20ft LED lightstrip need over time?

The integrated LEDs are rated for long life and require no bulb changes. If a segment fails after the 1‑year manufacturer period, the entire strip must be replaced as individual diodes are not serviceable.

At what point does the 17‑watt strip hit its thermal limit during sustained use?

Continuous full‑brightness output of 1000 lumens is within the strip’s design envelope; no thermal throttle activates under normal indoor operation. Exceeding the 100‑volt supply or covering the strip can raise temperature beyond safe limits.
