Handheld 1D barcode scanner with USB HID or virtual COM interface, reading common symbologies and mobile screens at 280 scans per second
The Logic Controls I-150 is a corded handheld scanner built for point-of-sale counters, stockrooms and light warehouse use. It reads standard 1D symbologies such as UPC-A, EAN-13, Code 128 and Code 39 at up to 280 scans per second. The gun-style body weighs 0.44 lb and operates from a single 5 V USB connection.
The scanner draws 140 mA while scanning and 20 mA in standby, well within standard USB power limits. It ships with a 1.4 m straight cable and supports both HID keyboard and virtual COM port modes, selectable by configuration barcode. No driver installation is required on Windows, macOS or Linux; the device enumerates as a standard input device. The only common issue is forgetting to scan the interface-switch barcode when moving between HID and COM modes.
Minimum resolution is 4 mil, so the scanner handles dense labels and barcodes displayed on phone screens at typical brightness. The 635–645 nm LED illumination and wide scan angles — tilt ±55°, deflection ±75°, rotation ±25° — give tolerant positioning. It is not designed for 2D codes such as QR or Data Matrix, and the 30 % minimum print-contrast requirement means very low-contrast or damaged labels may not decode.

Scan a test barcode; the LED should flash and the beeper tone sounds once per successful read at up to 280 scans per second.
The box includes the handheld scanner with a fixed 1.4 m straight USB cable; no separate cable or power supply is needed because the unit draws 5 V DC from the host port.
Choose HID for keyboard-wedge input into any text field; choose Virtual COM port when your POS software requires a serial data stream over USB.
