  • Two angled adapters fit tight chassis layouts
  • One up-angled and one down-angled connector included

  • Male-to-female design extends existing motherboard header
  • Backwards compatible with USB 3.0 pin set

USB 3.1 Type-E header adapter kit

This kit provides two Type-E adapters that connect a motherboard's internal USB 3.1 header to a front-panel port. It suits builders adding or relocating a high-speed front USB connector on a modern case.

Up-angled and down-angled adapters included

One adapter angles upward and the other downward, letting you route the cable cleanly in tight chassis layouts. Both maintain the full 10 Gbps signal path without altering the pinout.

Male-to-female Type-E 10 Gbps pass-through

Each adapter is a straight male-to-female Type-E extension rated for 10 Gbps, preserving USB 3.1 bandwidth and backward compatibility with USB 3.0 devices. It will not convert a USB 3.0 header to USB 3.1.

Questions about this item

Will the angled Type-E headers loosen or need reseating after repeated case openings?

The kit includes one up-angled and one down-angled Type-E adapter; both use standard friction-fit connectors rated for 10 Gbps and require no scheduled maintenance beyond normal handling.

What limits sustained throughput on the Type-E link?

Each adapter carries a 10 Gbps Type-E male-to-female connection, so the interface itself caps sustained data at 10 Gbps.

Do the adapters add heat or draw extra power when the front-panel port runs all day?

They are passive Type-E male-to-female extensions with no active circuitry, so they add negligible heat and draw no additional power.
