USB-C DIY connector kit
This pack contains five USB 3.1 Type-C male plug connectors designed for custom cable builds or repair work. Each unit includes a 24-pin SMT connector mounted on a small PCB with a 56 kΩ resistor for standard power and data negotiation. The black housing cover is supplied but requires additional overmoulding to secure it properly.
Soldering replacement for factory moulded ends
These connectors suit makers replacing damaged USB-C plugs or creating bespoke cables where a pre-moulded end cannot be used. The 56 kΩ resistor enables regular host-to-device power and data but does not support OTG host roles. Builders needing OTG functionality or a fully sealed overmould straight from the packet should look elsewhere.
Sustained assembly reliability
Once the inner overmould is completed the joint holds the 3.0 mm strain relief firmly, giving a durable connection for repeated mating cycles. The PCB-mounted pins maintain consistent contact resistance during long data transfers or charging sessions. Without the extra moulding step the cover fit remains loose and cannot be relied on for mechanical strength.

Questions about this item
What board footprint does the 24-pin USB 3.1 Type-C male connector need for SMT placement?
The connector is supplied attached to a PC board, so it mounts directly to that board using the 24 SMT pads; no separate footprint is required.
Which assembly step is critical when fitting the 3.0 mm strain-relief and black housing cover?
The housing cover is not 100 % compatible with the connector; you must add an inner over-mould to secure it properly.
What maintenance does the 56 kΩ resistor inside the plug require over time?
The 56 kΩ resistor is a fixed surface-mount component on the PC board and needs no scheduled maintenance or replacement.
