2230 to 2280 NVME Adapter
This 90 degree angled adapter converts the M.2 2230 slot in a ROG Ally handheld console to accept full length 2280 NVME SSDs. It uses a PCI-E 4.0 x4 interface to maintain drive speed. The board is designed specifically for this handheld upgrade path.
Capacity and Headroom
The adapter supports NVME drives up to 8TB, removing the tight space limit of the factory 2230 form factor. It cannot convert NVME signals to SATA or SATA to NVME, so only NVME drives are compatible. Performance scales with the installed drive and the console's PCI-E 4.0 link.
Build Integration
Installation takes roughly 20 minutes: mount the 2280 SSD on the board, clone the system, then swap the original drive. The angled design fits the ROG Ally chassis without blocking other components. No extra power cables or brackets are required beyond the board itself.

Questions about this item
Will the 90 degree angled PCI-E 4.0 adapter fit inside my ROG Ally alongside the existing cooling hardware?
The 90 degree angled design is built specifically for the ROG Ally chassis, allowing the 2280 SSD to sit parallel to the motherboard without interfering with the original thermal solution.
How can I verify the adapter is running at PCI-E 4.0 x4 speeds after installation?
Check the link speed in the ROG Ally BIOS or use a tool like CrystalDiskInfo; it should report PCIe 4.0 x4 for the installed 2280 NVME drive.
Does the package include a 2280 NVME SSD or only the converter board?
Only the M-Key 2230 to 2280 converter board is supplied; a compatible 2280 NVME SSD must be purchased separately.
