Connects a Raspberry Pi 5 to PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 devices via a 16-pin cable and onboard x1 slot; 12 V header and DC jack feed only the slot's 12 V pins
This adapter board connects a Raspberry Pi 5 to standard PCIe x1 devices using a 16-pin FFC cable. It provides an onboard PCIe x1 slot with an open end that accepts x1, x4, x8 and x16 cards. The 12 V header and DC jack feed only the 12 V pins of the slot. No power is delivered to the 3.3 V or 5 V pins on the connector.
Suitable for developers adding a single-lane accelerator, network card or storage controller to a Raspberry Pi 5. Builders who require 3.3 V or 5 V power from the slot, or who need more than one PCIe lane, should look at a different solution. The board does not supply those voltages and the slot is electrically x1 only.
The critical specification is the 16-pin FFC interface that carries a single PCIe lane from the Raspberry Pi 5 to the onboard x1 slot. Cards with wider edge connectors fit physically but operate at x1 speed. External 12 V power connects to the header or DC jack and reaches only the 12 V pins of the slot.

The adapter board is supplied without the 16-pin FFC cable; a compatible cable must be purchased separately to connect it to the Raspberry Pi 5.
The board is designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi 5 and its 16-pin PCIe interface; it is not compatible with earlier Pi models.
No, the 12 V header and DC jack supply only the 12 V pins of the PCIe x1 slot; the 5 V and 3.3 V pins receive no power from this board.
