Use case

This adapter lets you power a laptop that has a 4.0x1.7mm DC input using a 65W USB-C charger. It is intended for owners of compatible notebooks who want to replace a bulky barrel charger with a compact wall adapter.

What the trigger does

A built-in PD emulator trigger negotiates 18-20V from the USB-C charger and passes it to the DC male tip. The 90-degree angled connector reduces strain on the laptop port and the cable. The adapter does not support 5V output.

Before you buy

Confirm your laptop requires 18-20V through a 4.0x1.7mm barrel jack and that its original charger is rated at 65W or less. Your USB-C charger must support Power Delivery and be able to supply more power than the laptop draws.

Questions about this item

Will the built-in PD emulator trigger need replacing after extended use?

The trigger is integrated into the Type-C female end and has no user-replaceable parts; it operates passively whenever a compatible 65 W charger is connected.

What voltage ceiling stops the adapter from drawing more power under continuous load?

The output is fixed to the 18 V–20 V range, so the adapter will not negotiate voltages above 20 V even if the charger supports higher levels.

Does the 90-degree angled housing get warm when powering a laptop all day?

The angled connector contains only the PD trigger circuitry, which draws minimal current, so it remains close to ambient temperature during sustained 65 W operation.
