CFexpress Type-B reader for USB 3.1
This adapter connects a CFexpress Type-B card to a host through USB 3.1 Type-A or Type-C ports. It targets photographers and videographers who need to offload footage from cameras such as the R5, Z6 or Z7 without an internal card slot. The device does not accept XQD cards.
Dual-port flexibility with a selector switch
Two host connectors — USB 3.1 Type-A and USB 3.1 Type-C — are fitted alongside a physical switch that selects the active port. Gold-plated contacts and a precision PCB built from high-frequency, low-resistance material maintain signal integrity at 10 Gbps while a differential layout eliminates parasitic capacitance and inductance.
Plug-and-play with port selection
The reader requires no driver installation on modern operating systems; insert the card, choose the correct host port with the switch, and connect. The only common issue is forgetting to toggle the switch when changing between Type-A and Type-C cables, which leaves the card invisible to the host.

Questions about this item
Will the gold-plated connectors or the PCB need replacement after heavy daily use?
The adapter uses high-quality gold-plated connectors and a precision-crafted PCB with high-frequency, low-resistance materials designed to resist wear and signal degradation.
What limits the sustained transfer speed when reading a CFexpress Type-B card through this adapter?
The USB 3.1 10Gbps interface is the bottleneck; the internal PCIe 4.0 gen4x2 path supports full CFexpress B specification speed, but the USB link caps sustained throughput.
Does the adapter get hot or draw extra power when running all day with two USB ports active?
The differential signal layout minimises parasitic capacitance and inductance, reducing heat buildup and signal attenuation during continuous high-speed operation.
