Eight-port 6 Gbps SAS/SATA HBA with two internal SFF-8087 connectors, flashed to IT mode for ZFS, FreeNAS and unRAID
The LSI 9211-8i is a host bus adapter built around the LSISAS2008 controller. It provides eight 6 Gbps SAS or SATA lanes through two internal SFF-8087 connectors. The card ships in P20 IT mode, presenting drives directly to the operating system without hardware RAID abstraction.
This adapter suits builders who want the operating system to manage redundancy and data integrity. It is not for systems that require on-board hardware RAID acceleration, nor for installations without an available PCIe slot.

The board uses the LSISAS2008 controller at 6Gbps SAS and SATA speeds; typical power draw for this generation of HBA is low enough for standard server airflow.
You need Mini SAS SFF-8087 cables or a backplane with matching SFF-8087 connectors; each port carries four 6Gbps SAS or SATA lanes.
