Eight-port SAS 2008 controller delivers 6 Gbps SATA and SAS connectivity in IT mode for ZFS, FreeNAS or unRAID arrays
The LSI 9211-8i is a SAS 2008 host bus adapter that provides eight 6Gbps SATA and SAS ports for connecting multiple drives to a server or workstation. It runs P20 IT mode firmware, making it a direct-attached controller suited for ZFS, FreeNAS and unRAID software RAID configurations.
The card installs in a standard PCI Express slot and ships with both high-profile and low-profile brackets to fit different chassis heights. The IT mode firmware presents drives directly to the operating system without hardware RAID abstraction, which avoids driver conflicts common with RAID-mode firmware but requires the OS to manage the storage pool.
