Questions about this item

Does the 87 W pass-through charging port generate noticeable heat when the hub runs all day?

The hub draws up to 87 W through its USB-C PD port to charge the host laptop; sustained load will warm the aluminium casing but no active cooling is fitted.

Which host port must my laptop provide for every function to work?

A single USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3 and DisplayPort Alt Mode is required to drive the 4K HDMI, VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, card readers, audio jack, seven USB-A ports and wireless charger simultaneously.

Will the Gigabit Ethernet and 4K HDMI work at full speed on a 2016 MacBook Pro?

Yes — the compatibility list includes the 2016 MacBook Pro, and the RJ45 port negotiates 10/100/1000 Mbps while HDMI delivers 4K at 30 Hz on that model.
