Compact hub for 2016-2018 MacBook Pro

The LUOM PB-9634 adds six connections to the USB-C ports on MacBook Pro 13-inch and 15-inch models from 2016 through 2018. It provides two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.1 port, an SD card slot and a microSD card slot in a Space Gray aluminium body that matches the laptop finish.

Passive cooling with 100 W power delivery

The aluminium casing acts as a heatsink so the hub runs silently without a fan. It passes up to 100 W of Power Delivery to charge the host MacBook while the hub is in use, drawing power from the user's standard PD charger.

Welcome Guide and 12-month guarantee included

The box contains a Welcome Guide that explains setup and a manufacturer guarantee covering defects for 12 months. No extra cables or software discs are supplied; the hub relies on the operating system's built-in drivers for Thunderbolt and USB functionality.

Questions about this item

How do I install the LUOM PB-9634 on a MacBook Pro 2018 and what alignment step is often missed?

Slide the hub directly into the USB-C ports on either side of the MacBook Pro 2016, 2017 or 2018; the key step is matching the hub edges to the laptop's top and bottom edges so it snaps in without wobble.

What maintenance will the SD and microSD slots need over time?

Blow out dust from the card slots periodically and avoid forcing cards; the spring-loaded eject mechanism is the only moving part that can wear.

What speed limit appears first when I copy large files to an SD card through this hub?

The SD and microSD readers top out at 104 Mb/s, so that card interface becomes the bottleneck before the 5 Gbps USB 3.0 or 40 Gbps Thunderbolt links.
