What this converter does
The LUOM SDI2HDMI turns 3G-SDI, HD-SDI or SD-SDI sources into an HDMI 1.3 signal while passing the original SDI stream through a loop output. It accepts 480i, 567i, 720p and 1080i/p at 24, 25, 30, 50 or 60 Hz and auto-detects the incoming format. Eight channels of 48 kHz digital audio travel with the video. Power comes from a USB 5 V 1 A connection, so no separate mains adapter is required.
Who it suits and who it does not
Editors, broadcasters and streamers who need to monitor or record professional SDI cameras on HDMI displays or capture cards will find the auto-detection and loop-through handy. It is not for anyone needing 4K or UHD conversion, nor for HDMI-to-SDI direction, and it cannot handle RF, CVBS, AHD, TVI or CVI signals on the BNC port.
Build integration
The box connects with one BNC input, one HDMI output and one BNC loop output, drawing up to 5 W from any USB port that supplies 5 V 1 A. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux or Android without drivers. Operating range is 0 to 50 °C at 10 to 85 % humidity, so it fits in a rack, a mobile cart or a quiet studio desk.
