Solid Double Margin Drill 13.70 mm

The M.A. Ford CXDSR 1370AP Cyclone Xd 5X is a solid double margin drill sized at 13.70 mm. It is intended for machinists and maintenance teams drilling precise holes in steel, cast iron and similar metals. The tool is supplied new and ships directly from the manufacturer.

Cyclone Xd 5X Geometry

The Cyclone Xd 5X point and double margin design improve hole straightness and surface finish while reducing thrust force. These features extend tool life and allow higher feed rates in production drilling without changing the machine setup.

Questions about this item

How often will the double-margin cutting edges on the 13.70 mm drill need resharpening?

Resharpening frequency depends on the workpiece material and feed rate; the double-margin design distributes wear evenly so the drill can be reground multiple times before replacement.

What limits continuous drilling depth with the 5X solid carbide body?

The 5X diameter-to-length ratio allows holes up to roughly five times the 13.70 mm diameter before chip evacuation and deflection become the limiting factor.

How much heat builds up in the solid carbide shank during all-day production runs?

Solid carbide conducts heat efficiently into the workpiece and coolant, so the shank stays cooler than steel alternatives even during extended high-speed cycles.
