  • Cyclone XD geometry reduces cutting forces

CXDSS 1020AP Cyclone XD 3X Drill

The M.A. Ford CXDSS 1020AP is a solid double margin drill with a 10.20 mm cutting diameter. It is designed for precision holemaking in production environments where stability and accuracy are critical. Machinists and tooling engineers select it for consistent performance in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Upgrade from single margin drills

This tool replaces standard single margin drills when hole straightness and surface finish must improve. The double margin design adds a second guiding surface to reduce drift and improve alignment. The jump is worth it for deep holes or tight tolerance work where wandering cannot be corrected later.

Limits of solid carbide construction

The solid carbide body provides rigidity but will fracture under heavy interruption or severe runout. It requires a rigid machine spindle and secure workholding to avoid chipping. Coolant pressure and chip evacuation must be managed to prevent thermal shock in deep cavities.
