1.70 mm Micro-Tuff Drill

The M.A. Ford Twister Micro-Tuff Drill in 1.70 mm diameter is a precision cutting tool designed for machining small holes in a variety of materials. It suits engineers, machinists and technicians who require accurate micro-drilling performance for detailed fabrication or repair work.

Micro-drilling practical limits

The 1.70 mm diameter restricts use to very small hole sizes, making it unsuitable for larger bores or heavy stock removal. Feed rates and cutting speeds must be carefully controlled to avoid tool deflection or breakage in deep or hard materials.

Installation and common issues

The drill fits standard collets or chucks that accept 1.70 mm shanks, allowing quick setup on most drill presses or milling machines. Common problems include premature wear if coolant is omitted, and breakage when excessive force is applied during entry or exit.
