Solid Carbide Drill 11.30mm

The M.A. Ford Twister XD 5X is a solid carbide drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It suits machinists and fabricators who need precise hole-making with extended tool life. The 11.30mm diameter fits specific hole-size requirements in production or maintenance work.

Drilling Depth and Material Limits

The 5X designation indicates a drilling depth capability of five times the diameter. Solid carbide construction provides hardness and heat resistance for tough alloys, but the tool is brittle and requires rigid setups. It is not for hand-held use or unstable fixtures where runout can cause breakage.

Machine and Holder Requirements

Verify that your machine spindle and tool holder provide the concentricity and rigidity solid carbide demands. Coolant delivery through the spindle or flood coolant is essential for chip evacuation at this depth. Buyers needing a different diameter or a replaceable-tip system should select another tool.

Questions about this item

Which diameter of the Twister XD 5X solid carbide drill matches my 11.30 mm hole requirement?

The 11.30 mm diameter is the exact size this drill cuts, so it matches a hole of that dimension directly.

How does the 5X designation affect drilling depth in my machine?

The 5X label means the flute length allows drilling up to five times the 11.30 mm diameter in a single pass.

What does the solid carbide construction mean for tool life on steel workpieces?

Solid carbide resists wear and heat far better than cobalt or HSS, giving longer life on steel and other hard materials.
