Compact bedside lamp with USB charging

The Macally LAMPCHARGAC is a small table lamp designed for nightstands and bedside tables. It combines a 10-watt light source with four integrated USB ports for charging phones, tablets and other devices. Touch control lets users switch the lamp on or off and cycle through three brightness levels with a fingertip. The warm 2700K colour temperature suits evening reading and low-disturbance night lighting.

Charging limits set by the USB ports

Two USB-C and two USB-A ports share a total output budget. A single port can deliver up to 20 watts when used alone, while simultaneous use across ports reduces the shared maximum to 15 watts. This means fast charging works best for one device at a time; adding a second device will lower the available power for each. The lamp does not support proprietary fast-charge protocols beyond the stated wattage figures.

Plastic shade and fixed gu4 socket

The shade is made of plastic and the lamp uses a gu4 base, so the light source is not user-replaceable with standard screw-in bulbs. At 4.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide the footprint is small, leaving room for other nightstand items. Touch switching removes the need for a separate cord switch, but the fixed cable and integrated ports mean the unit must stay near a mains outlet. Build is intended for indoor use only.

Questions about this item

How do I choose between the shared 15W and single-port 20W charging modes?

The lamp delivers up to 20W on one USB-C or USB-A port when used alone, and up to 15W total when multiple devices charge simultaneously across the four ports.

What does the 2700K figure mean for the light in my bedroom?

It produces a warm, cosy white tone similar to traditional incandescent bulbs, suited for relaxing or reading without harsh blue tones.

How does the USB-C interface cap the charging speed in practice?

Each USB-C port can supply up to 20W for a single device, while the combined four-port budget is limited to 15W when several devices are connected at once.
