40-litre daypack for mixed use
The Maelstrom Mshb03 is a 40-litre hiking backpack built for day hikes and lightweight travel. Its nylon shell resists water, tears and abrasion while keeping the load light. A zippered main compartment, two front pockets, two waist pockets, two side pockets and two mesh pockets organise gear efficiently. The pack fits men and women in a green colourway.
Hydration sleeve and external attachment limits
The main compartment includes a Velcro strap and a hose port for a water reservoir, though the bladder itself is not supplied. Side straps and buckles secure bottles or trekking poles, while bottom straps anchor a tripod or sleeping pad. Elasticised front straps hold jackets or picnic mats for quick access. A reflective logo adds visibility in low light.
Rain cover and volume headroom
A stowable rain cover sits in a dedicated bottom pocket and deploys to shield the full 40-litre volume from heavy rain. The pack comfortably swallows a day's clothing, food, a first-aid kit and a 3-litre reservoir with room to spare. It runs out of space when users try to carry a full overnight sleep system plus bulky camera gear inside the main compartment.

Questions about this item
How do I decide between the 40L capacity and a smaller daypack?
The 40 litre volume suits multi-day trips where you carry a sleeping pad, tent or extra layers; a smaller pack is better for single-day hikes with minimal gear.
What does the 40L figure mean when the pack is loaded on the trail?
It indicates the total internal volume available for gear, roughly 13.4 by 8.6 by 22 inches, letting you organise clothing, food and a hydration reservoir in the main compartment plus external pockets.
How does the nylon fabric perform in heavy rain and abrasion?
The waterproof nylon resists tears, scratches and wear, and the included rain cover stored in the bottom pocket adds full protection for valuables during downpours.
