Retrieval Tool for Tight Spaces

This Mag-Mate magnetic pickup tool reaches 20 inches when extended and compresses to 25 inches for storage. Its bendable copper shaft holds a 5/16 inch rare-earth magnet head rated for a 16 lb pull capacity. The knurled aluminum handle provides a secure grip for retrieving ferrous parts from engines, machinery or confined cavities.

Sustained Reach and Hold

The flexible shaft maintains its set position without spring-back while you manoeuvre around obstacles, so the magnet stays on target during long retrievals. Rare-earth magnetism delivers consistent holding force through the full 16 lb rating rather than fading after the initial contact. Fixed shaft construction prevents the head from detaching under load.

Upgrade from Rigid Pickups

This tool replaces straight magnetic wands that cannot navigate bends or deep recesses. The jump is worth it when fasteners fall behind components, inside transmissions or down narrow channels where a rigid shaft cannot follow. Builders needing a rigid, non-flexing probe or a higher lift rating should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the flexible copper shaft of the Mag-Mate hold its shape when the rare-earth magnet is pulling a full 16 lb load all day?

The flexible copper shaft is designed to bend and retain the position you set it in, so it will keep the 5/16 in rare-earth magnet aimed at the workpiece while supporting the rated 16 lb pull force.

What must I already have for the knurled aluminium handle to give me a secure grip on the Mag-Mate?

The knurled aluminium handle is built into the tool itself, so no separate handle or accessory is required; it is ready to use straight from the box.

Will the 20 in reach and 5/16 in head of this Mag-Mate fit into the same tight engine bays where I used my old rigid pickup?

At 20 in long with a slender 5/16 in diameter magnet head, the flexible shaft can snake around obstacles that a rigid pickup cannot, giving access to tighter spaces.
