Smart charger for AA and AAA cells

The Powerex MH-C204FA charges two or four AA or AAA NiMH or NiCD batteries from a 100-240VAC supply at 50-60Hz. Precision circuitry stops charging when each cell reaches full capacity, avoiding overcharge. It is suited to households and professionals who need dependable, maintenance-free recharging of standard cylindrical cells.

Sustained charging behaviour

The unit delivers a maximum of 12V at 0.5A for 6.0W total output, so each cell receives a controlled current throughout the cycle. Temperature monitoring and the precision algorithm keep the charge rate steady rather than tapering off early. This approach protects cell health over repeated cycles and is not intended for rapid top-ups in minutes.

Practical limits of the included batteries

Four AAA AccuPower AccuLoop-X NiMH cells rated at 1100 mAh and 1.2V are supplied pre-charged. They retain 85% of their charge after one year in storage and are rated for up to 1000 recharge cycles. The chemistry has no memory effect, but the 1100 mAh capacity sets a hard ceiling for high-drain devices that demand more current than these cells can supply.

Questions about this item

How much power does the MH-C204FA draw from the mains when it is charging batteries all day?

The charger accepts 100-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and draws 0.3 A input, delivering up to 6.0 W maximum output while charging.

What battery sizes and chemistries must I already have for this charger to work?

It charges two or four AA or AAA cells that are NiMH or NiCD; the pack includes four AAA AccuLoop-X NiMH batteries rated at 1100 mAh and 1.2 V.

Will the included AccuLoop-X AAA cells still hold a useful charge after sitting in a device for a year?

They are pre-charged and retain about 85 % of their capacity after twelve months in storage or standby, so older devices stay ready longer.
