  • Microprocessor control uses negative delta-V cut-off and deep conditioning to protect cells

Eight-bay charger for AAA to D cells

The Powerex MH-C808M charges one to eight AAA, AA, C or D nickel-metal-hydride or nickel-cadmium batteries simultaneously. An intelligent microprocessor controls each bay independently and a white-backlit LCD shows charge status for every cell. The package includes sixteen AAA AccuLoop-X NiMH cells rated at 1100 mAh and 1.2 volts.

Low-temperature algorithm and selectable rates

Rapid charge delivers 700 milliamps for AAA and 2000 milliamps for AA, C and D sizes; soft charge halves those currents to reduce heat. A low-temperature charging algorithm and negative delta V cut-off terminate each cycle safely. Worldwide input of 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 hertz allows use anywhere without a voltage converter.

Replaces disposable AAA alkalines

The sixteen included AAA cells recharge up to 1000 cycles, eliminating the recurring cost of single-use alkalines in any device that takes AAA batteries. The built-in deep conditioning system restores aged cells and identifies defective ones, so the set stays reliable longer. Buyers needing C or D cells, or more than sixteen AAA cells, must purchase those separately.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 16 AAA AccuLoop-X batteries into the MH-C808M charger and what step do people often get wrong?

Insert each of the 16 AAA batteries into any of the eight bays, matching the positive and negative contacts. Select Rapid Charge at 700 mA or Soft Charge at 350 mA using the mode button; the common mistake is leaving the charger on Rapid for the first cycle when Soft Charge is recommended for new cells.

What maintenance or replacement will the 1100 mAh AccuLoop-X NiMH batteries need later?

The 16 included AAA cells are rated for up to 1000 recharge cycles and feature low self-discharge, so they hold charge during storage. No scheduled maintenance is required; replace individual cells once they no longer deliver the rated 1.2 V capacity after repeated cycling.

What limit appears first when the MH-C808M runs a sustained charge session on eight AAA batteries?

Charging eight AAA cells simultaneously at the Rapid 700 mA setting draws the adapter's full 2000 mA output, so the 12 V 2000 mA power supply becomes the limiting factor before any thermal or cell-level restriction activates.
