Everyday 5 gal wastebasket

The Mainstays 5 gal wastebasket is a single-piece polypropylene bin designed for daily refuse in bathrooms, offices, bedrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, nurseries or classrooms. Its matte black finish gives a clean, modern look while the open-top design allows quick drop-in access without a lid to remove.

Open-top design and liner note

The round, open-top shape has one compartment and no lid, so waste goes straight in with no flap to lift or clean. Liners are sold separately, and the smooth plastic surface wipes clean with a damp cloth for low-maintenance care.

Dimensions and weight check

The assembled unit measures 11.37 in L x 11.37 in W x 14.37 in H and weighs 1.1 lb, so verify that the footprint fits your intended spot and that the height clears any low shelves or cabinets. No assembly is required, but buyers who want a lidded or larger-capacity bin should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the polypropylene body need any special cleaning products to stay in good shape?

No special products are required; the manufacturer notes it can be wiped clean with a damp cloth for low-maintenance care.

Will the 1.1 lb bin stay stable when it is filled to the 5 gal capacity?

The round base measures 11.37 in across, giving a broad footprint that resists tipping even when the bin is full.

Does the open-top design let heat or odours build up during all-day use?

With no lid to trap air, heat and smells disperse naturally, so the bin stays neutral even after continuous daily use.
