Five-Port Gigabit Switch

The MANHATTAN 560696 is a desktop Ethernet switch with five Gigabit ports. It connects PCs, printers and network storage in a small office or home network. The metal housing sits on a desk or shelf without a rack. Plug-and-play operation requires no configuration.

Auto-Negotiation and Flow Control

Each port supports 10/100/1000Base-T and negotiates the highest speed with the linked device. Full-duplex flow control reduces packet loss during heavy traffic. No uplink port is present, so every port is equal for daisy-chaining or direct device connections.

Capacity and Limits

Five ports handle a typical workgroup with a router, two workstations, a NAS and a wireless access point simultaneously. The switch forwards at wire speed on all ports, but it offers no management features, VLANs or link aggregation. Buyers needing managed functions or more than five ports must choose a different model.

Questions about this item

Will the 5 x Gigabit Ethernet Network ports need any firmware updates or fan cleaning over time?

The switch has no fan and no management interface, so no firmware updates or internal cleaning are required.

What limit appears first when all five 10/100/1000Base-T ports run at full speed continuously?

The total switching capacity of the device caps aggregate throughput before any single port hits its 1000 Mbps ceiling.

How much noise and heat does the desktop unit produce when powered all day?

With no moving parts and a 0.3 kg fanless chassis, it runs silent and stays only slightly warm to the touch.
