Purpose & Audience

The Manw Elfin-EW11A-0 is a compact serial-to-WiFi converter built for engineers integrating RS485 devices into wireless networks. It suits industrial control, smart grid and remote monitoring projects where a small footprint matters.

Deciding Specification

The unit provides an RS485 interface bridged to WiFi with an external antenna and a full TCP/IP stack in a 61 x 26 x 18mm enclosure. AES encryption and an embedded web server are included for secure configuration.

Installation & Common Issues

Wiring uses a standard RJ45 connector for the RS485 side and the external antenna attaches directly. Setup is done through the embedded web server. The small form factor leaves little room for cable strain relief, so secure the cables to avoid dislodging the connections.

Questions about this item

What does the 61 x 26 x 18 mm footprint mean for fitting it inside an enclosure?

The module occupies a 61 by 26 by 18 mm volume, so it fits in tight industrial housings or DIN-rail carriers without crowding adjacent terminals.

Which wired interface does the RS485 port use and what throughput ceiling does it impose?

The RS485 interface links serial devices to the Wi-Fi stack; its practical throughput is limited by the serial baud rate you configure, not by the wireless link.

How is the unit mounted given its 18 mm depth?

At 18 mm deep the board can be secured with standoffs, DIN-rail clips or adhesive pads inside a cabinet, leaving ample clearance for the external antenna.
