Internal DVD Writer
The Manw iHAS124-14 is an internal 24X DVD writer with a SATA connection for desktop PCs. It writes DVD+R and DVD-R discs at 24X, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD+R DL at 8X and DVD-RW at 6X. CD-R and CD-RW writing reach 48X and 24X respectively. A 512 KB buffer helps maintain data flow during write operations.
Sustained Write Performance
Smart-Burn automatically adjusts the writing strategy and runs OPC to preserve quality across long sessions and avoid buffer underrun errors. Smart-X matches extraction speed to both the host request rate and the condition of the disc. These features keep throughput stable rather than peaking only in short bursts. The drive reads DVD-ROM at 16X and CD-ROM at 48X for quick data access.
SATA Interface Limits
The SATA interface provides a standard internal connection compatible with current desktop motherboards and supports hot-swap function for simple drive changes. Write speeds are capped at the rated 24X for DVD and 48X for CD media. Buyers who need Blu-ray writing or faster-than-DVD transfer rates will require a different class of optical drive.

Questions about this item
How much power and heat does the 24X DVD writer generate when running continuously?
The drive uses a standard SATA power connection and draws only the current required for 24X DVD or 48X CD writing speeds; typical DVD writers of this class idle at a few watts and peak well within a normal desktop power supply's capacity.
What must my computer already have for this SATA DVD writer to work?
An available internal SATA data port on the motherboard, a free SATA power connector from the power supply, and a standard 5.25-inch drive bay with mounting screws.
Will this 24X writer read and burn discs on an older PC that only supports 16X DVD-ROM speeds?
Yes, the drive is backward compatible and will operate at the maximum speed the host controller and media allow, so it reads at up to 16X DVD-ROM and 48X CD-ROM on legacy systems.
