Right-hand mortise lock function

This right-hand mortise lock provides a storeroom function with a latch only and no deadbolt. It is designed for commercial doors that must remain locked from the outside at all times while allowing free egress from the inside. The lock uses a solid brass cylinder operated by a key on the exterior and has no interior thumb turn. It suits property managers and maintenance teams securing storage, utility or service rooms.

Doors needing exit hardware or privacy

This lock is not suitable for doors that require a deadbolt for added security or an interior thumb turn for convenient locking. It will not work for left-hand door swings or for privacy functions where occupants lock the door from inside. Buyers needing a passage set that unlocks from both sides or a classroom function with interior locking should consider a different mortise lock configuration.

2-1/2 inch backset requirement

The lock has a fixed backset of 2-1/2 inches and a face plate measuring 1-1/16 by 7-5/8 inches. These dimensions must match the existing door preparation exactly for the lock to fit and operate correctly. Verify the backset and face plate cutout on the door before ordering to avoid installation issues.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and what must be purchased separately?

The lockset includes solid brass face plate, surface mounted screw-on knobs with swivel spindle, solid brass cylinder and two keys; cylinder collar, strike plate and mounting screws are not included and must be sourced separately.

Which version suits a right-hand door needing a storeroom function?

The 91DW/3 is a right-hand mortise lock with storeroom function — latch only, no deadbolt or rocker, cylinder outside and no thumb turn inside.

What does the 2-1/2" backset mean once installed?

The latch centre sits 2-1/2 inches from the door edge, so the bore must be drilled at that distance for the knob and cylinder to align correctly.
