A perforated mortar hoe with a D-grip hardwood handle mixes material to the right consistency
The Marshalltown 14281 is a perforated mortar hoe built for masons and contractors who mix mortar on the job site. Its forged carbon steel blade features circle cutouts designed to help mix mortar to the right consistency. The 18 in hardwood handle ends in a D-grip for control. Overall length is 26-1/4 in.
As a non-powered hand tool, the hoe produces no operational noise and draws no electricity. The forged carbon steel blade resists heat buildup during prolonged mixing in direct sun. The hardwood handle stays cool to the touch and absorbs vibration. Total weight is 2.15 lb.
This hoe replaces a standard solid-blade mortar hoe when faster, more uniform mixing is needed. The perforations reduce drag and break up clumps without extra effort. It is not suited for users who need a wider blade for moving large volumes of mixed material in a single pass.

The hoe arrives fully assembled with the 18 in hardwood handle riveted to the blade; no user attachment is required.
The circle cutouts on the 7 in perforated blade and the hardwood handle are the components subject to wear; the tool itself is not serviceable.
Fatigue typically sets in once the mortar stiffens, increasing resistance against the 4 3/4 in blade and making the D-grip harder to manoeuvre.
