Hugging companion and blanket

The Mary Meyer Afrique Alligator lovey joins a soft stuffed character to a 13 x 13-inch blanket with knotted corners. The green alligator features a sculpted face with embroidered eyes for safe play. Two fabric layers offer etched green on top and light green corduroy underneath. It is designed for babies who want a single comfort object.

Texture variety for sensory play

The double-layered blanket provides distinct tactile surfaces that invite touching and exploration. Knotted corners add small, graspable details for developing motor skills. The alligator's embroidered features remove detachable parts that could pose a choking hazard. This construction suits infants who explore by mouth and hand.

Machine washable for daily use

Cold water on a gentle cycle followed by air drying keeps the lovey clean through frequent handling. Materials meet or exceed US safety requirements for children's products. The single integrated piece means no separate parts to lose during washing or travel. Buyers who want a larger blanket or a different animal character should view the wider Afrique Boutique collection.

Questions about this item

How do I choose between the Afrique Alligator lovey and the other animals in the Afrique Boutique collection?

The Afrique Boutique collection includes alligator, lion, elephant, giraffe, and zebra characters. Each features the same 13 x 13-inch double-layered blanket with knotted corners and a soft sculpted face with embroidered eyes. Pick the animal your child prefers; construction and care are identical across the line.

What does the 13 x 13-inch blanket size mean for everyday use?

The square blanket measures 13 inches on each side, giving enough fabric for a baby to grasp the knotted corners while the attached alligator stays within easy reach. The double-layer design pairs soft etched green fabric on top with wide corduroy light green underneath for tactile variety.

How should I clean the lovey and will it hold up to repeated washing?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and air dry. The toy is made to meet or exceed US safety standards, so the embroidered eyes and stitched seams are designed to withstand regular laundering without coming loose.
