DLTtape IV 40/80GB Cartridge

This Maxell DLTtape IV cartridge delivers 40GB native and 80GB compressed capacity for backup workloads. It suits LAN servers, workstations and mid-range systems that use DLT IV drives. The tape is rated for 500,000 passes and a minimum head life of 15,000 hours. The single-pack format keeps spares simple for small tape libraries.

Drive Compatibility Check

Verify that your tape drive supports the DLT IV format before ordering. The cartridge requires a drive with a 12MB per second transfer rate and the ability to handle streaming speeds up to 150 ips. Ensure the drive firmware recognises the ceramic coated metal particle media. No other interface or protocol is supported by this cartridge.

Media Durability Benefits

The patented ceramic coated metal particles protect the tape surface during high-speed streaming. This construction maintains data integrity across the full 500,000 pass rating even in harsh temperature and humidity conditions. The rated 15,000 hour head life reduces drive wear during repeated backup cycles. The single cartridge ships ready for immediate archival use.

Questions about this item

What comes in the single pack and is any drive or cable included?

The pack contains one DLTtape IV cartridge rated at 40GB native or 80GB compressed capacity. A compatible DLT drive and SCSI cable are required separately.

Should I choose the 40GB native or 80GB compressed figure for planning backups?

Use 40GB for guaranteed space; 80GB assumes 2:1 compression which varies by data type.

What does the 12MB per second transfer rate mean for a full backup job?

At 12MB per second the drive can stream up to 40GB of native data in a single continuous session.
