DLT cleaning cartridge for legacy drives

The Maxell 183770 DLT cleaning tape is a single-pack cartridge built for DLT IV, III and IIIXT drives. It removes debris from the read-write heads to maintain reliable backup operations. IT teams maintaining older tape libraries use it to prevent read and write errors caused by contamination.

Up to 20 cleaning cycles per cartridge

Each cartridge delivers up to 20 cleaning cycles before replacement is required. The cleaning process runs automatically when the drive detects excessive errors or on a scheduled basis. No separate power supply or active cooling is involved; the drive mechanism handles the tape motion at its normal operating speed.

Questions about this item

How do I install the maxell 183770 DLT cleaning tape, and what step do people often miss?

Insert the cartridge into a compatible DLT IV, III, or IIIXT drive; the drive automatically runs the cleaning cycle. The step users miss is ejecting the tape immediately after the cycle finishes rather than leaving it loaded.

When will the maxell 183770 cleaning tape need replacement?

The cartridge delivers up to 20 cleaning cycles. Replace it once the drive indicates the cleaning tape is exhausted or after 20 uses, whichever comes first.
