Ideal for Entry-Level Server Backup

This Maxell DDS-4 cartridge provides 20/40GB of storage capacity for tape-based backup systems. It is designed for entry-level to mid-range server environments requiring reliable offline data protection. The ceramic coated metal particle tape formulation supports consistent read and write operations across the media lifespan.

Simple Cartridge Loading

The precision engineered cartridge fits standard DDS-4 drives without additional tools or configuration. A patented Safe-T-Lock hub-locking mechanism secures the reel during transport and drive operation, reducing the risk of tape slack or leader pin damage. Media Recognition System grading confirms the cartridge meets data-grade quality specifications before use.

DDS-4 Capacity and Compression Limits

Native capacity is 20GB with a 2:1 compression ratio yielding up to 40GB, though actual compressed capacity depends entirely on the compressibility of the dataset. The DDS-4 interface restricts maximum transfer rates to the specification limits of the drive generation. Organisations needing higher single-cartridge capacity or faster streaming performance must evaluate newer tape formats.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the tape is recording data correctly after inserting it into my DDS-4 drive?

The drive's write-verify pass and the MRS (Media Recognition System) grade confirmation indicate the cartridge is performing to specification.

What comes inside the single pack and is a cleaning cartridge included?

The pack contains one 20/40GB DDS-4 data cartridge with ceramic coated metal particle tape and Safe-T-Lock hub; cleaning media is sold separately.

Which capacity version should I select for a drive that reads 20GB native and 40GB compressed?

This 200028 model provides exactly 20GB native and 40GB compressed capacity, matching that drive specification.
