Down Rod for High Ceilings

This 72-inch down rod extends a Maxim ceiling fan from the ceiling canopy to suit tall or vaulted rooms. It is supplied new and compatible with the Basic-Max fan series that accepts optional stems of this length.

Mounting Options and Limits

The fan system supports three installation methods: close mount, standard stem, and optional stems up to 72 inches long. This rod represents the maximum optional stem length offered, so ceilings requiring a longer drop cannot be accommodated with this component.

Steel Construction and Finish

The rod is built from steel with a black finish that matches the coordinating fan hardware. Its threaded ends connect securely to the canopy and motor housing, providing a rigid, wobble-free link that maintains alignment during daily operation.

Questions about this item

Should I use the 72" down rod or a shorter option for my ceiling height?

The 72" rod suits high ceilings where the fan must hang lower; the fan also supports close mount and standard stem installations for lower ceilings.

How does the 72" length affect fan performance once installed?

A 72" down rod positions the blades farther from the ceiling, improving airflow efficiency in rooms with tall ceilings.

What mounting interface does the 72" down rod use and what does it limit?

The rod threads into the fan's standard stem mount and limits the minimum hanging height to the full 72" when used.
